Lots of creativity shared in our meeting this month.

From Natalie, a wonderful quilt depicting a possible scene from a kite fighting game. She brought the kite runner role to life. Natalie used a stock photo, edited in graphic software, and printed onto fabric. She finished with detailed quilting and touchups to bring the piece to vibrant life. With Lily (doll) in the foreground, Natalie got ideas on how to use an embroidery piece from our "share" table. Can't wait to see where this might show up in a future project.

From Tammy, these two wet felted vessels. Tammy has an amazing collection of exotic house plants and will use these to hold a couple of her pots. Good art, good function.

From Jean, combined her talent of watercolor and fabric painting with quilting and thread painting to make this "hello sprint" wall hanging. Embellishments give it plenty of dimension too.

From Grace, a closeup of a dress Grace designed for a client. Grace will share the full piece soon since the client has received the finished piece and is thrilled.

From Johnnie, my "experiments" with making cheesecloth dimensional. I also used silk worm cocoons painted with acrylic to add more dimensions to the circular piece. It was great fun to get everyone's comments on additional options for each of the pieces below. Critiques are great tools for expanding our imaginations and refining our abilities to communicate through art.

From Anne, another intricate story woven into her art. I wish we had recorded the audio of each of these pieces shown at the meeting since I (jfm) can't do justice to the meaning. Anne's work delves into folklore, history, and cultures.

From Linda, using primarily paper, Linda made these cards demonstrating not only her talent for composition but her fun approach to recycling and using "what we have."

From Irene ... a new doll Lily named after her great niece who inspired her. You can see the unique, charming personality from head to toe.

Updates

I submitted the proposal to the Rock Hill cultural center. As of 3/25 I have had no response. I am planning to pop in on my way back from Charlotte next week and check out the facility.

Thanks everyone for a fun, productive meeting.
