Our February meeting was the first at the Greer Cultural Arts Center and we loved the warm welcome from Robin and Sara. We were delighted to welcome new artist who found our group through the social media postings of the art center. We look forward to the new artists sharing their knowledge and talent.
We are submitting a number of proposals for exhibits this year and got some great ideas during the meeting that will make our exhibits successful.
Two members shared their “reworked, redesigned” projects in our challenge. In this challenge, artists could choose to redesign a project that they considered unsuccessful or emulate and “remake” a piece based on another artist’s work, e.g., reinterpretation of an Van Gogh or Veneer painting. Below is Cindy Moore’s interpretation of Van Gogh’s painting “Skull with Burning Cigarette.”

Natalie Rockley transformed an improv-pieced quilt into a bold story of peace.

Fabulous pieces!
New Product and Recent Classes Info
Susan Rink shared a product she learned about in an online collage class called BB Bash (BB Henry Art). The product is Darice Giant Glue Stick.

BB Henry is a sort of wild spirit, free flying artist but tons of crazy fun. Some of us who are taking her class after the Cat Rains class are finding we are reworking our collage pieces and loving the results. Just goes to show, we can keep learning and transforming our styles.
Five of us took an online class presented by Cat Rains and highly recommend her classes. Her website is Catherine Rains Intuitive Artist | Create Inspire * Awaken. She does a free online collage class every year so make a note to sign up next year. She also has other fee-based classes.
Better World Studios
Several of us are going to Graniteville next month to explore the potential opportunity to exhibit at Better World Studios. We thank Sara Quattlebaum for connecting us to that gallery.
Share Table – we always have materials to share but this month we got a real treat from Tammy Hoyer who brought sticks, yes, sticks. Watch out for some beautiful stick handles to appear in wet-felted bowls soon. No reason they can’t make their way into many, many pieces of art!
