Artist Statement

I would describe my style as ‘emerging.’ I enjoy discovering new artists and techniques and I challenge myself to interpret those influences while injecting my own voice into the piece.

I am a lifelong learner, and have recently embraced pottery, monoprinting and designing my own fabrics on my iPad. I enjoy mixing those media and expanding the inherent properties of paint, fiber, wood, paper and clay to create layered, textured and dimensional works.

I am currently experimenting with combining small bits of found fabrics, such as old cotton clothing and vintage lace, which I then rust- and tea-dye to add shading and dimension before mounting on painted canvas. I call this series ‘Industrial Revolution’ as a nod to Greenville’s rich textile history.
