Artist Statement
Fabrics, fibers, paints, brushes and found objects are the inventory of my creativity. Standing by my grandmother at the age of 3, and watching her sew on her treadle sewing machine (of which I am now the proud owner) was always my favorite thing to do. Crayons and coloring books were my favorite birthday and Christmas gifts.
The past 40 years of award-winning quilting, combined with 13 years of having some of my doll-making articles published in a quarterly magazine has pushed me into venturing further down the artistic ‘learning highway.’
This highway led me to the John C. Campbell Folk School for classes as well as a few assistant teaching opportunities. Most of my learning has come from guilds, societies, quilt stores, and friends in the vicinity of my "highway."
I’ve learned that when you try something that is just not for you, move on down the "highway."
