Fabric is something I have been working with for quite some time. My mother taught me how to sew when I was a teenager and after that I started making some of my own clothes.
The link between fabric and art came to me several years ago when I was at an “Open Studio”. I saw this incredibly interesting painting, and I remember asking myself how hard it would be to create something similar with fabric? I told myself I would do that one day when I had the time. That time arrived at the end of 2018 when I realized I wanted an outlet that would allow me to explore and enjoy my creative side.
My art has evolved in the five years I have dedicated myself to this journey. I tried different styles in search of the one that would allow my creativity to shine through. I have always been drawn to abstract art pieces. It is no surprise that creating abstract art is when I feel the happiest.
The use of strong colors in my art is a direct influence of my Brazilian heritage. Brazil has a strong influence of the enslaved Africans in our culture, food, music, and art. The colors used are usually bold and rich, capturing the natural beauty of the country as well as the enthusiasm for life Brazilians are known for.
